Named after the indigenous people of the surrounding area, Tongva Park is a gorgeous, contemporary plaza leading westwards from Santa Monica City Hall towards the ocean. It contains four hills in its gradually descending footprint, which makes it feel larger and more nuanced than it actually is.

The two dome like structure perch over the park into Ocean Blvd which gives a perfect view of the sunset over the pacific over with the pier as the foreground. Parking is easy for the park as there is a big parking structure on Colorado Blvd across from the pier. 3 hour max for parking but the cost is very cheap, I only paid $2 for 2 hours.

There were a few homeless people sleeping on the benches at the entrance of the park. They did not bother us though. I did see a security guard patrolling the park while we were there. The playground is unique. There are a few slides and climbing structures. No swings. Decent park to pass the time with but nothing to go out of your way to visit.
Tongva Park is a very beautiful park! I first saw it when I was driving on Ocean Avenue. If youre on Ocean Avenue and look up, youll see two lookout points that are very well framed. I saw that and thought it was a cool looking park! I checked it out this weekend while I was on my way to the pier to see Totem.
This park feels like a much more relaxed and family friendly park versus the Pacific Palisades Park which is always busy and more hectic being next to the bluffs, the Pier, and Ocean Ave. Likes: The steel wave/basket structures overlooking Ocean look super cool and serve nice views of the beach and beyond.
