Phone: 401-222-2632. Snake Den State Park is located along Route 6 in Johnston, Rhode Island. The 1000 acre undeveloped property boasts self-guided walking trails, beautiful trees, flowers, plants, and working farm as well. The foliage is something to behold in the fall.

Cranston, RI. 375. 206. 2550. 7/3/2019. 9 photos. Across from the tulip garden, you cant miss the park. It looks like a regular farm with a house, barn, sheds and a giant park map. You walk past the hpuse barn into the park trail and slowly you find yourself up a hill and in the woods.

Snake den Oct 2020 Its a nice spot but its very easy to get lost. The trails are not very well. There are a lot of trails that go every which way. First to Review Snake Den is a large park full of woodsy walking trails, hidden treasures (such as a historical cemetery that you may miss if you arent looking for it), and large open spaces. It may not be one of the most visited parks in the state, but it is one of the more interesting. Most of the trails are unmarked, but easy to navigate.

Reviewed August 6, 2018 Nice spot Beware of Google Maps. It will take you to Snake Den Farm. Parking for the Orange Blaze Trail is behind the Firehouse on Route 6. No signs posted on the board, but the trail is pretty clearly marked with orange. No

It was fine though because it gave us the opportunity to see the sunny sky and some pretty colorful dragonflies fluttering around. This trail has various elevations and slopes throughout with branches here and there sparsely running across the path but easy enough to climb over. There are many stones on the trail and tree roots.

Good for beginners or for a change of pace. They no longer dogs so this counts me and my four legged training partner out. Oh well I wont cry about losing this one.

Snake Den State Park History (1969) - riparks.com commented 2024-04-28

The State of Rhode Island acquired the land, now known as Snake Den State Park in 1969. It is a combination of farm land and woodland and comprises 744 acres. The prior owners were many generations of the Dame family and, before that the Steere family, an old family throughout Johnston and surrounding towns.
